Campus Crush

Project Overview: Campus Crush is a college-only dating app designed to make meeting new people feel safe, intentional, and fun. As the Co-Founder and Product Designer, I led the end-to-end design process—from user research and wireframing to branding and high-fidelity prototyping.

Most dating apps today aren’t designed with the specific needs and experiences of college students in mind. Users often feel pressure to present idealized versions of themselves, experience a lack of meaningful personalization, and face safety concerns when connecting with strangers outside their campus community.

This led me to my guiding “How Might We” questions:

Empathizing With Users

  1. How might we make a dating app for college students that allows users to be authentic?

  2. How might we create the app to be relevant to student life, focusing on personalization?

  3. How might we make a dating app that feels safer for students to use?

UX Research

Key Findings

Through user interviews and research, I uncovered several core needs and pain points specific to college students using dating apps.

What does the user need to do?

  • Find potential matches that feel relevant, not random.

  • Feel secure and confident when using the app.

  • Express themselves authentically through profiles.

What should the experience solve?

  • Reduce overwhelming content and decision fatigue.

  • Increase feelings of safety and trust with school-based identity verification.

  • Offer a more intentional, student-centered alternative to mainstream dating apps.

Low Fidelity Wireframes

I created digital wireframes for the sign-up flow and profile setup to establish the app’s core structure and user journey. These early designs focused on simplicity, guiding users through onboarding in a way that feels clear, welcoming, and aligned with the app’s goal of helping students express themselves authentically.

High Fidelity Prototype

Campus Crush is still in active development, so final outcomes are yet to be determined. However, early research and prototyping have revealed a strong demand for safer, more personalized dating experiences tailored to college life. As development continues, future testing will shape key takeaways and guide refinements. Campus Crush is set to go live on the App Store and Google Playstore in August 2025.
